The Tucson Gem, Mineral, and Fossil Showcase has been held for over 50 years, and is the largest show of its kind on the planet. Items on display at the show range from woolly mammoth legs and tyrannosaurus rex teeth to 80-pound meteorites and 5-ton amethyst geodes. Visitors attending the show can shop for artifacts, asteroids, fossils, minerals, museum-quality gems, and more.
Different shows are featured at multiple locations around the town, though most occur in the mid-town and downtown areas of the city, including the site of the Tucson Convention Center. Throughout the event, visitors can ride a free shuttle van between the different shows, most of which are free as well. Not only for industry experts, this show is also family-friendly. It offers a junior education area and free seminars to the public.
